Bellota is the tools brand of Corporación Patricio Echeverría, a Spanish industrial group with manufacturing plants in Spain, Denmark, the United States, Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela, and sales in over 120 countries. As a natural step in that expansion, the group decided to establish manufacturing operations in India — gradually, starting with one product from its range.
INDOLINK accompanied the project from start to finish. Work began with the market research that had to answer the two opening questions: whether manufacturing in India would benefit the group, and which location would be the right one. The site analysis came down in favour of Nasik, in the state of Maharashtra.
From there, execution covered every front of the setup: obtaining the licences, registrations and permits needed to operate smoothly; selecting and hiring key staff; finding and acquiring the land, through to possession and registration of the property deeds; building the factory, from selecting contractors and approving the construction plan to managing the works; bringing in the utilities — power, water, communications —; and sourcing and installing the machinery, from supplier search to final assembly on the shop floor, plus the ad-hoc support the client needed along the way.
The result: the group's first Indian plant, built from the ground up with a single local partner for the entire process.
